The Nomad Life, Week 1: Destination Red Rocks
I finally have a moment outside of the nonstop memorable adventure that has become my life, to digest the diverse and dramatic scenery that's been whizzing by me.
While there have been a few minor annoyances (mainly not having a routine down, and losing things because there's not yet much order or logic to the way I pack the car), my first week or so as a nomad has been exceptional.
Granted, this first stretch resembled more of a co-op road trip with a destination, as opposed to an organic journey with no planned end point. Seeing Jimmy Eat World at Red Rocks marked the end of the defined adventure. I suppose what comes next will begin to define my experience as a nomad.
So far, it has been deliriously enjoyable in spite of the growing pains that come with having my entire life packed in a car.
It's hard to believe that in the short span of eight days I have:
- Soaked in the healing waters of Buckeye Hot Springs in the Eastern Sierra Nevada range of California
- Been eaten alive by Biting Midges at the Pahranagat Wildlife Preserve in Nevada (I'll spare you those photos. You're welcome.)
- Laid my eyes on Cedar Breaks again
- Hiked with Kimber around the Navajo Loop Trail and Wall Street at Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah
- Fed some spinach to a persistent chipmunk that kept following me up the switchbacks
- Driven through the imposing but altogether stunning Capitol Gorge
- Enjoyed dispersed camping in the high desert above Torrey, Utah and alongside the Colorado River near Gypsum,
- Brewed coffee on Coffee Pot Road (See the video above for more, or click here!)
- Saw three iconic bands that defined my 20s and 30s (Get Up Kids, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Jimmy Eat World) under the stars at Red Rocks Ampitheater in Colorado
I already have nearly 100GB of photos and videos to organize, and many special memories and moments to process. By the time you read this, I'll be even deeper into my adventures in Colorado, and I plan to share as much as I can!
For now, here are some of my favorite photos from the journey so far:

More videos, photos, and stories to come. Thanks for sharing this adventure with me!
